Because Sister Emmerich did not describe the "lamps" she divined from the lines and circles of the Grail Mandala, we do not know whether she saw metal and glass candle "lamps,"
circa 1823 C.E., the date of her vision, or clay spout "lamps," circa
30 C.E., the alleged date of the Crucifixion. Both types of "lamps" have been divined from the Grail Mandala. A candle "lamp" is seen in front view, and a clay spout "lamp" is seen in top view, below. The
problem with her want of precision in her descriptions will be with us throughout this essay. The precise descriptions found in earlier Grail literature spring from the desire of the authors to communicate their thinking to
others. They said so expressly. I do not know the intentions of Sister Emmerich. She may have intended for her vision to be for herself, alone. If so, she did not need to describe a "lamp" with precision
because she knew what she had seen. On the other hand, a sufficient number of her descriptions are sufficiently specific to tweak the noses of the Church's clergy and hierarchy, if that was her intention.
Was there really a German nun named Sister Anne Catherine Emmerich? Or, are the visionary experiences attributed to her the political machinations of a group of heretics or opportunists who were blackmailing the Church for
money in return for their silence about their knowledge of the actual origins of the Christ Story? Perhaps someday I will know. |
